The Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska Zlatan Klokić said he was honored to attend yesterday’s inauguration of Donald Trump as US President, who would usher the world, according to him, into a more peaceful phase and try to correct his predecessor’s many mistakes.
– As for our expectations, we expect colonialism and protectorate to finally die out in BiH with Trump and that the Dayton principles and the Constitution that created BiH with the US support start to be respected – said Klokić.
He stated his expectation that objective facts about the situation in BiH would finally start reaching Washington, rather than the subjective, zealous reports of the current US Ambassador to BiH, so that everyone could move forward without foreign interference in internal politics and processes.
He noted his pride for having the opportunity, together with other members of the Republic of Srpska delegation, to jointly represent the institutions and citizens of the Republic of Srpska in Washington.
– This is a major and important event and at the same time an opportunity for talks with important people who will be part of the new US administration – said Klokić.
He stated that the Republic of Srpska welcomed the new Republican administration hoping for recognition of the Serbian people’s support and sentiment for Trump as someone who would usher the world into a more peaceful phase and try to correct his predecessor’s many mistakes.
The Republic of Srpska delegation attending the inauguration includes, in addition to Klokić, advisors to the President of the Republic of Srpska Marko Romić and Siniša Mihailović, and Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Vienna Mladen Filipović.
BiH Consul General in Chicago Tatjana Telić said that establishment of the American-Serbian Political Action Committee was a significant step towards improving cooperation between the US Serbian community and the wider American society.
Telić noted the importance of the Committee’s establishment immediately prior to the inauguration of President Donald Trump, stating that the inauguration was a major event not only for the US, but also for the entire world.
– Such an initiative holds the potential to strengthen the Serbian community’s voice in US political and social life, contributing to better understanding and strengthening relations between the Serbian and American people. Also, it is an excellent opportunity for dialog and joint projects to highlight political, economic and cultural values, as well as Serbian community’s contribution to American society – said Telić.
She states that this initiative is not aimed at the detriment of other peoples in BiH and the region, but at strengthening dialog and equal relations among all communities.
– As BiH representative from the Republic of Srpska, I support every effort that contributes to strengthening the Serbian diaspora, its organization and connections, all in accordance with the laws and democratic values of the host country, which strive for joint progress and understanding – said Telić.
