The director of the Serbian Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Arnaud Gouillon, pointed out the importance of Serbs who had fled the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ checking the condition of their property in FBiH because the right to private property is a basic human right.
‘It is important that Serbs who had fled the FBiH check whether their property is registered in their name, whether there have been changes in the cadaster of which they have not been informed. This is very important because the right to private property is a basic human right that should be respected’, Gouillon said, recalling the campaign conducted by Serbia and Republic of Srpska concerning Serb property in FBiH.
Gouillon noted that legal aid offices had been established in the Republic of Srpska and that any person having property in the FBiH, or whose ancestor had property, could contact the offices and learn about the situation on the ground.
‘It is important that everything returns to its original condition and that the one who owns the property retains the ownership’, Gouillon said.
