‘I am glad for the opportunity to meet many people from the film world, as well as ordinary people who are film lovers also here in the territory of the USA,’ says Husein Alijević.

‘Since we cannot reach foreign audience, let us reach ours, which is also very much looking forward and still cherishes the cult of the actors, wants to meet them, have a photo taken with them, to talk,’ says Milena Predić.

‘Mainly our people come, that is true, but slowly, over time, we are also breaking into the US market,’ says festival director Slavica Petrović.

Special award for supporting the festival went to Tihomir Stanić, who performed the monodrama The Bridge on the Drina by Ivo Andrić. Impressions are still strong about the series The Nobel Prize Winner.

‘The series The Nobel Prize Winner was broadcast on RTS, it was their own production, we did not make a film out of it, but I see that people have watched the series on RTS Planeta and I talked and commented on it a lot with many, and I see that it was well received here, as well as in the region,’ says Stanić.

Volunteers are important at the festival, such as Petar Gatarić Junior and his daughter Tijana. They were both born in the US, but they want to support Serbian culture.

‘Every year it is great, our people come to see our film and our cinema, like in Belgrade right now,’ says Gatarić.

‘People are unaware of how beautiful film we have in Serbia,’ says Tijana Gatarić.

The Chicago Serbian Film Fest brings joy to the Serbian community in the US, because it takes them closer to Serbia during the three-day festival.
