Among the 33 associations participating in the Festival, members of the oldest society in Mozart’s city – the Cultural and Sports Community of Serbs (KSZS Salzburg) put in a lot of effort to present their motherland Serbia in the best possible way.
Members of the KSZS society, groups consisting of all ages, showed the beauty of the dance and folk costumes from different regions of Serbia. In addition to the successful performance and demonstrated dancing skills, the Serbian stand was very popular and abundant in culinary specialties, displayed handicrafts, Orthodox Slava symbols: icons, candles, Slava cake, wheat pudding, censers, wine and basil. Serbian people’s customs pervaded the conversation.
The opportunity to present our country to visitors was offered under the auspices of the Folk Culture Sector of the city and province of Salzburg. KSZS Salzburg was the most numerous association at the Festival with the most members taking part in the parade.
For the overall display, we received praise from the organizers, as well as from the attending representatives of social and political institutions. The KSZS stand was also visited by the newly appointed Serbian Consul General to Salzburg, Ms Vera Vukićević.
During the twenty-five years that I have been heading the association, we have regularly responded to the city’s calls to best introduce the beauty, customs and traditions of our country by socializing with other cultures’ representatives. We thrive in this because we have hard-working members, parents and their children who give the association strength to achieve the set goals and move forward successfully. A big thank you to all of them for that - proudly pointed out Nenad Šulejić, president of KSZS.
