On Sunday, 20 October 2024 at 13:00, the Ivo Andrić hall at the Belgrade Book Fair hosted the book promotion of Tragovi bečkih Srba (Traces of the Viennese Serbs) by Dr Marko Lopušina and Svetlana Matić. Aleksandar Tanurdžić welcomed the audience on behalf of the Novi Sad publishing house Prometej. The authors and the reviewer Dr Vjera Rašković Zec spoke about the book.

Addressing the audience, Svetlana Matić said that Vuk’s Vienna was the largest city of the Serbian diaspora, as 180,000 Serbs lived there. ‘Our research has shown that today there are at least fifty Serbian places with full addresses in the Austrian capital, which our and the Austrian public should know about and visit. There are at least another fifty Serbian traces in Vienna, which have not been officially registered and marked. We should visit them also, so as not to forget that Vuk’s Vienna is the city of the Serbian people also. Writers and painters that created here: Branko Radičević, Petar Petrović Njegoš, Laza Kostić, Đuro Daničić, Stjepan Mitrov Ljubiša, Đura Jakšić, Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, Petar Kočić, Paja Jovanović, Uroš Predić, Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, Nikola Tesla, Milutin Milanković, Milo Dor, Bogdan Bogdanović and many other artists and scientists,’ concluded the author.
