The humanitarian organization Our Serbs from Chicago celebrated 10 years of work, during which it has implemented a large number of projects. At the celebration, they primarily wanted to thank everyone who had helped over the past decade. The president of the organization, Kathy Fanslow, is preparing to embark on new humanitarian actions.

The humanitarian organization Our Serbs from Chicago held a celebration of 10 years of work, where gratitude was expressed to donors.

Kathy Fanslow, organization president, says that she is preparing to embark on a new 14-day trip to Serbia on 1 October. She states that among the donors there are always Americans and third- and fourth-generation Serbs. Our Serbs usually want to help families get back on their feet in the long term and buy them cows, help them build a greenhouse; this time they showed some of the current projects where visitors made donations. The projects include purchase of cows for families in Ibarski Kolašin in northern Kosovo and Metohija.

Aleksandra Sabojić, a medical student in Chicago, is excited to travel with Our Serbs for the fourth time. They say that people are very happy when they visit them, they are excited to show them their homes, farms, meet their children, etc.

One of the many projects is starting soon in Chicago during fall when members of the Cathedral parish will raise funds for gift bags and packages to be given to children in Kosovo and Metohija over the holidays.

‘Kathy has managed to integrate many non-Serbs, Americans and others into this organization Our Serbs and they all come and help wholeheartedly this organization of hers and ours Our Serbs, many perhaps not knowing much about us, but because of her kindness, because of her love, because of her breadth, says Father Dobrivoje Milunović.

Our Serbs‘Somehow that love for the fatherland, for our people never fades. Sometimes it only awakens in the third generation when they discover their roots, discover some of their ancestors,’ says Father Miloš Živković.

‘We are with them even though we are not there, we think about them and want all the best for them,’ says Veselka Savić.
