A delegation of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, led by Director Vladimir Kokanović, held a meeting with representatives of Mostar-based Serbian associations in the premises of the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Mostar.
The discussion covered the current challenges facing the Serbian community in Mostar and opportunities for further improving cooperation with the institutions of the Republic of Serbia. Special focus was on preserving national identity, strengthening the work of associations, supporting cultural and educational programs, and involving young people in activities of importance to the Serbian community. Association representatives presented their previous activities, projects and plans for the coming period, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and support from the Republic of Serbia.
Directorate delegation visited the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Prebilovci and the Žitomislić Monastery and its museum exhibition.
The visit to these significant spiritual and historical sites paid tribute to the innocent victims who had suffered in Herzegovina, and emphasized the importance of preserving the culture of remembrance, historical memory and spiritual heritage of the Serbian people.
Prebilovci and Žitomislić remain permanent symbols of suffering, but also of faith, renewal and perseverance of the Serbian people, reminding us of the obligation to preserve the truth about the past and pass it on to future generations.
