The Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, said that marking the Day of the Republic of Srpska and the day of adoption of the first Constitution of Srpska was equally important in Serbia and Srpska, because those occasions showed best the level of unity of the Serbian people.

– We have something to say, because you keep hearing from the highest officials of both Srpska and Serbia that the most important thing is that we cooperate well in the region, that we see our future in exceptionally successful regional cooperation, because all current projects of regional type and those under consideration such as ‘mini-Schengen’ came from our people – Cicović emphasized.

In the collage show broadcast as a TV-reception on RTRS and RTS on this occasion, Cicović said that the cooperation between Srpska and Serbia was something worth showing, because for the first time the situation was that both Serbia and Srpska were defining all strategic projects together.

– Our roads no longer diverge, our roads lead in the same direction and it is simply something that certainly guarantees the future of our people in this area – Cicović pointed out, adding that the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia wanted to best encourage the cooperation between the two republics and to give full contribution to these relations.

He said that, due to the coronavirus epidemic, it was planned to solemnly mark these two important dates this year through a collage TV show, which showed everything that the Republic of Srpska was today and wanted to be in the future. Cicović noted the extreme importance of the cooperation between Srpska and Serbia, which had been at an exceptionally high level in the past seven years.

– Bearing in mind that the future of our people depends on how well we will manage to do everything that is our obligation, primarily on preserving our national identity, language, culture, script, religion, and how successfully we will best present the unity of the cultural, ethnic and linguistic area, that is how much our future in this area will be certain – said Cicović.

He reminded that for the seventh consecutive year, the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia marked 9 January, the Day of the Republic of Srpska, and 28 February, the day of adoption of the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, the dates of extreme importance for Srpska.

– Having in mind the fact that the Republic of Srpska was created in peace on 9 January 1992, it is completely clear that the date of adoption of the Constitution is exceptionally important to us, because the Serbian people in BiH then demonstrated full maturity, that it wanted to build the Republic of Srpska which was legally regulated, which had its own Constitution – said Cicović.

Cicović reminded that on Friday, 26 February, a discussion was organized in Belgrade on the challenges that the Republic of Srpska was currently exposed to, gathering eminent political analysts from Srpska, Serbia and the world.
