Bogdana Brezovac, a professor of Serbian language and literature and former journalist, was elected president of the Serbian educational and cultural society Prosvjeta, Stuttgart branch, Germany, in July of this year. After taking office, she organized a series of cultural events and forums to mark four years of Prosvjeta in Germany. The ceremonial academy attracted large interest, with a clear message that Prosvjeta’s task was to have that organization involve as many individuals as possible, whose working together could only produce good and very positive results.

SECD Prosvjeta Committee for Germany was founded on 20 May 2019. The first president was Desa Burazor Aslanidu. During those four years, Prosvjeta Stuttgart hosted a number of writers, poets, painters and other personalities from cultural and social spheres, from all parts of Serbia, Republic of Srpska, Germany and Europe.

‘Naturally, Prosvjeta plans to continue all the top quality content that we have been offering so far. We will gather all lovers of the written word at our literary encounters twice a year. We will work on expanding our Prosvjeta little choir. We want to cooperate with all associations and institutions that recognize in us partners in the same mission and desire to contribute together to the cultural and spiritual unity of the Serbian people, wherever they live,’ explained Bogdana Brezovac.

Starting next year, with the support of Prosvjeta Belgrade, the plan is to launch a publishing activity. ‘Prosvjeta’s Zbornik would offer a place to all lovers of the written word, but also to children from the Serbian supplementary school as little special guests.’

We must start building - not for ourselves, but for our descendants who will recognize us sometime in the future by the works we left them as legacy,’ was a clear message from Bogdana Brezovac, president of Prosvjeta Stuttgart.
