On the occasion of successful school year completion of the Serbian school in Salzburg, Austria, the fourth seminar of the teaching staff of Serbian supplementary schools in Austria was held in the premises of the Consulate General of Serbia. This year again, the founder and manager of the schools, Prof. Srđan Mijalković prepared and led the seminar, and teachers and pedagogues of Serbian schools from all over Austria responded to his invitation.
Mijalković opened the seminar with words of gratitude to the invited collaborators and hosts, and said that the efforts made by all teachers and team members to ensure survival and progress of the Serbian Language Supplementary Schools Network in Austria were necessary and important, because the functioning of the schools was of key importance for the entire Serbian community in Austria, but also in the homeland.
‘In order to further improve the high level of our work, we need to be in constant contact, to exchange experiences and share our knowledge, which is the purpose of this seminar. We must continue to fight for the recognition of the Serbian language in Austria, and against the official use of the so-called BKS language, which is a political invention. We have had success in this, but the entire Serbian community must finally stand by us in order for this fight to have a positive outcome. We need to open more schools, to have even more children, that way we will be closer to success,’ Mijalković noted.
In addition to Vienna and Salzburg, teachers also arrived from Tulln, Linz, Graz, Wels, Gmunden, Braunau, Wiener Neustadt, Steyr and Enns, Kufstein and Bregenz, Feldkirch, Innsbruck, Fügen, as well as from schools in Spittal, Villach, Klagenfurt and Saalfelden.
