Yesterday, while opening an online session of the Business Council for the Diaspora of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia responsible for monitoring the situation, proposing measures and participating in the coordination of activities in the field of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, indicated the importance of strengthening cooperation with our business diaspora.
Milićević said that, when talking about the diaspora, we often talked about preserving identity, language, culture and ties with the homeland, noting that this was the foundation, but that economic cooperation was equally important: the knowledge, experience, contacts, capital and business energy that our people around the world have and can link with Serbia’s development.
The Business Council for the Diaspora should increase its visibility, recognizability and presence in Serbia, he said, adding that we should create concrete mechanisms that connect our successful business people abroad with real investment and development potentials in Serbia.
The Minister said that our task was to bring these two forces together in an organized, smart and sustainable manner, and confirmed that his office was interested in initiating and co-organizing, together with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, a large business forum in Serbia to be dedicated to investments, partnerships and concrete connections between the business diaspora and the local development potentials of Serbia.
Today, our country has something to offer, and our people in the diaspora have knowledge, experience and potential, concluded Milićević.
