The Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria, Mladen Filipović, stated that the opening of the new border crossing in Gradiška was one of the most important infrastructure projects for the Republic of Srpska, BiH and the entire region in recent years, which would enable better and safer travel.

Filipović said that this project was of great importance for the economy, transport and regional connectivity, but especially for the diaspora throughout Europe. – For a large number of citizens who live and work in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and other European countries, Gradiška is the main connection with their homeland, so the new crossing will significantly reduce congestion and waiting times, speed up the flow of people and goods and enable better and safer travel – said Filipović.

He added that any improvement in infrastructure and better connectivity with the EU was of great importance for further development of the Republic of Srpska, but also of BiH. – Our diaspora is an important economic and social pillar of the Republic of Srpska and the entire BiH through investments, business cooperation and support for local communities – said Filipović.

Filipović pointed out that such projects confirmed the importance of investments in modern infrastructure for economic development, strengthening regional cooperation and better connectivity of people.

The new bridge that was opened yesterday will be used during the suspension of traffic at the existing Gradiška border crossing, which was caused by the collapse of part of the protective fence and pedestrian path on the old bridge over the Sava River.
