Frankfurt am Main hosted the 32nd Diaspora Writers’ May Meetings organized by the Sedmica Writers’ Association, which this year again brought together numerous authors and lovers of the written word from the homeland, Germany and neighboring countries.
The Serbian Writers’ Association of Switzerland also participated in the event, represented by its president Daliborka Šišmanović Kepčija, and Mirjana Cvijanović and Snežana Petrović. On that occasion, the president of the Association presented the host and president of the Sedmica Writers’ Association from Frankfurt, Aleksandar Jovanović, with a copy of Antologija II and last year’s edition of the collection Zaveštanja.
The traditional May Poetry Night also included a competition for the Orpheus award for the best unpublished poem. The Golden Orpheus went to Jelena Milenković, the Silver to Dušan Pavlović, while the Bronze Orpheus went to Mirjana Cvijanović, a member of the Swiss Association of Serbian Writers.
This year’s meetings had a special symbolic significance because they were dedicated to Nikola Tesla. The event once again showed that literary creativity connects writers and cultural creators in the diaspora with the homeland, while preserving language, tradition and spiritual identity.
