Our people are increasingly returning from the diaspora, and institutions should certainly help them adapt to their homeland as easily as possible, said Zlatan Klokić, Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska.

Back to Srpska, Diaspora as a Bridge to the Future is the title of the conference held yesterday in Banja Luka.

– Interesting conference conclusions; it offered guidelines for the direction we should take with our diaspora. At the conference there were people who have returned, talking about their experiences, where they had difficulties, experiences with institutions – said Klokić.

He also spoke about the dilemmas facing the people who want to return.

– The main obstacle regarding return is whether it is a kind of failure, considering their many years spent abroad. However, seeing that the climate has changed especially in the West, primarily due to the events in Ukraine, you see that the overall atmosphere here is perhaps better. They have mixed emotions, satisfaction for returning to the country of their birth, and on the other hand bitterness for not succeeding there. However, there are more and more happy families who have returned here – added Klokić.

He says it is necessary to talk as much as possible with people who want to return.

– We are introducing them to the stimulating tax policy in addition to everything that makes Srpska a favorable destination for return. People are definitely returning from the diaspora, we will create a story through specific examples of people who have returned. We should follow the practices of countries with positive examples, such as Serbia, but also Ireland – concluded Klokić.
