The minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, spoke yesterday with the Mayor of Šabac, Aleksandar Pajić, about the possibilities for holding this year’s themed summer camps for youth from the diaspora and the region.
Milićević said that city was rich in culture and historical significance, various events that had marked Serbian history, and therefore could provide our compatriots from the diaspora with a very meaningful view of our roots.
The Minister stated that this year the city that had produced many academics, writers and dukes would have the opportunity to host Serbian children from the region and the diaspora, enabling them to best learn about the life and work of these great figures of Serbian history, as well as about the way of life of the people of this region.
Given the specificity of each region of our country, we will continue to strive in the future to ensure that our children scattered around the world, have the opportunity to become acquainted with every inch of our fatherland, which would remain in their memories for life, he said.
At the same time, according to him, we will strive to ensure, together with local self-government, the return of our compatriots from the diaspora to their native regions, so that they can apply all the knowledge acquired around the world here in Serbia.
Milićević announced visits also to other municipalities and cities in the coming period, in order to increase the number of local units to host the themed summer camps for our children from the region and the diaspora.
