The Director of the Museum of Byzantine Culture, Dr Agathoniki Tsilipakou, visited the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Greece, where she met with the Head of the Office, Jelena Jovanović.
During the meeting, Ms. Tsilipakou noted the cultural, artistic, historical and scientific value of the Museum of Byzantine Culture for both Thessaloniki and the region, emphasizing the rare treasures of this Museum which date from the 2nd to the 20th century AD.
Taking into account the cultural significance of this Museum, the meeting also discussed the possibilities of achieving cooperation with museums from the Republic of Srpska, for which Ms. Tsilipakou expressed great interest.
In 2005, the Museum was awarded the Council of Europe Museum Prize, while at the same time the building of the Byzantine Culture Museum is considered one of the best works of architecture created in recent decades in Greece.
