On Thursday, 16 January 2025, in the ceremonial hall of the Viennese 3rd district’s municipality in Vienna, once more the SECS Prosvjeta organized successfully the 12th Serbian New Year’s Concert titled Serbian Libretto from Vienna to Vojvodina.
The concert was a festival of music and culture, designed with the intent to bring the audience closer to the beauty of Serbian tradition and contemporary musical expression through court music. Top artists took the stage, and the evening centered on the Vienna Folk Orchestra under the baton of the distinguished maestro Nikola Zarić.
With their performances, special guests, tenor prof. Mr Peter Widholz and Prosvjeta’s Little Choir, added a special dimension to this event. The performance of Prosvjeta’s Little Choir conducted by music pedagogues Vera Simić and Simo Simić was particularly moving. The concert was a musical journey connecting Vienna and Vojvodina, tradition and modernity.
As organizers, we are especially proud of the fact that the hall was filled with audience enthusiastically following and applauding the performers. Prosvjeta’s Serbian New Year’s concert confirmed once more its role as one of the most important cultural events of the Serbian community in Vienna and in Austria in general.
Our sincere wish is for this concert to be an incentive for even greater success in the future and for continuation of our mission – promotion of our culture and tradition beyond the borders of Serbian lands.
Same as every year, after the concert, on 17 January, Provjeta members visited the monument to Vuk Karadžić in Vienna where they laid flowers as a sign of respect for this great reformer of the Serbian language and culture.
