The seventh Serbia is calling you sports and educational camp for children and youth from the diaspora began in the complex of the Patrijarh Pavle secondary school student dormitory in Belgrade, this year gathering more than 400 Serbian children from 17 countries.<\/p>\n
The camp was opened jointly by the Serbian Prime Minister, Prof. \u0110uro Macut, PhD, and the Minister without Portfolio in charge of Serbia\u2019s relations with the diaspora, \u0110or\u0111e Mili\u0107evi\u0107.<\/p>\n
During their tour of the camp, Macut and Mili\u0107evi\u0107 will talk to children from the diaspora, the region and the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as to the organizers and coaches.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Macut stated that this day had confirmed once again that Serbia was not just a place from which one came, but a home to which one always returned.<\/p>\n
\u2018The Serbia is calling you event is much more than a sports gathering. It is a bridge that connects our children from the diaspora, the region and Kosovo and Metohija with their homeland, with the language, culture, history and values that have sustained us as a people for centuries, said Macut.<\/p>\n
He noted he was particularly pleased that in the coming days hundreds of boys and girls from different parts of the world would study, train, socialize and create friendships that would last a lifetime.<\/p>\n
According to him, it is everyone\u2019s obligation to show every child who carries Serbia in their heart that they are always welcome here, that they have their own place and that they are part of one big family.<\/p>\n
\u2018That is precisely why the Government of the Republic of Serbia continues to invest in programs that strengthen ties with our diaspora and Serbs in the region, because we believe that preserving national identity is an investment in the future of our people,\u2019 the Prime Minister added.<\/p>\n
Minister Mili\u0107evi\u0107 stated that the camp was an opportunity to build bridges of friendship, which are important, according to him, for the future of children.<\/p>\n
\u2018But these bridges of friendship are of great importance and significance for the future of Serbia as well. These camps are also educational in nature, in the sense that, in addition to sports, you will also learn about what are the symbols of our people, which are culture, history, language, Cyrillic script, identity, tradition,\u2019 said Mili\u0107evi\u0107.<\/p>\n
He asked Serbian children from the diaspora and the region to be true ambassadors of Serbia and true guardians of the symbols of the Serbian people when they return to the countries where they currently live.<\/p>\n
As he stated, without symbols, there is no Serbian people, no matter where they live.<\/p>\n
The Minister also greeted specially the children from the southern Serbian province and the Republic of Srpska.<\/p>\n
\u2018Why do I greet specially the southern Serbian province and the Republic of Srpska? Because our children from the Republic of Srpska and the southern Serbian province cannot be the diaspora and the region,\u2019 said Mili\u0107evi\u0107.<\/p>\n
The Serbia is calling you camp is one of the most significant projects intended for children and young people from the diaspora and the region.<\/p>\n
