In the churchyard of the Church of Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the head of the Municipality of Lopare, Rado Savi\u0107, officially opened the Diaspora Days event, held in Lopare for the 15th time.<\/p>\n
\u2018These Diaspora Days are being held under the slogan Majevica, I carry you in my heart, and indeed our people coming from the diaspora in large numbers have proven that Majevica is in the hearts of both our Majevicans in the diaspora and us who are here,\u2019 Savi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n
He announced a rich program of the event, including entertainment, culture, sports and discussions about investments in the economy of the local community. \u2018The highlight of the event will take place in Busija, where we will hold the Fair of Homemade Products and Cottage Industry, expecting about ten thousand people to participate in these events and for these Diaspora Days to be the most visited and best organized diaspora-homeland gathering,\u2019 Savi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n
Representative of the Association of Majevicans in Switzerland, Ilija Jovi\u0107, stated that the diaspora was satisfied with the work of the local municipal administration. \u2018We are organizing Diaspora Days every year in cooperation with the municipality of Lopare, and I want to say that our association is of a humanitarian nature and we help as much as we can all socially vulnerable people in Majevica and beyond,\u2019 said Jovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
After the opening, a Folklore Festival was held featuring performances by the folklore ensembles of Krep\u0161i\u0107 Cultural and Artistic Society \/CAS\/ from Krep\u0161i\u0107, Priboj Cultural and Artistic Society \/CAS\/ from Priboj, Ravno Polje Cultural and Artistic Society \/CAS\/ from Ugljevik, Ili\u0107ka Cultural and Artistic Society \/CAS\/ from Br\u010dko and the hosts, Prosvjeta Serbian Educational and Cultural Society \/SECS\/ from Lopare. Before that, those cultural and artistic societies marched in a ceremonial procession from the Saint Sava Elementary School to the yard of the Lopare church.<\/p>\n
