The 100 members of the Vienna City Council, i.e. Provincial Parliament, who have taken the oath include Ilija Tufegd\u017ei\u0107 from the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO). According to him, he will be the voice of his compatriots in the Austrian capital for the next five years. The new members\u2019 terms were confirmed at the constituent session of the parliament.<\/p>\n
According to estimates, nearly 200,000 people of Serbian origin live in Vienna. All of them have obtained in Ilija Tufegd\u017ei\u0107 a person to whom they can turn, and who, in his own words, will try to achieve the goals of all Serbs living in Vienna.<\/p>\n
His door, he says, is always open to his compatriots.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Serbs now have their own representative in the Viennese Parliament. I want to be the voice and representative of the Serbian community. In me, Serbs will have someone to hear their problems, and to fight to solve them \u2013 said Tufegd\u017ei\u0107.<\/p>\n
He particularly notes that the Serbian community in Austria is integrated very well, that it has been contributing to the development and well-being of Austria for decades and precisely for that deserves respect.<\/p>\n
He is grateful to everyone who gave him the preferential vote on the FPO list in the recent elections.<\/p>\n
Associations will also be able to count on his help in achieving their goals, learning where to obtain financial support for their events, which preserve Serbian tradition, culture and identity.<\/p>\n
\u2013 I want to help Serbian organizations in the implementation of planned projects to foster Serbian tradition and culture. In me, they will also always have an interlocutor on the topic of how to obtain necessary funding, to which they are entitled like all other communities in Vienna, and which they have not used so far to the extent they are entitled to. I will also work on bringing Vienna closer to cities in Serbia and Republic of Srpska \u2013 said Tufegd\u017ei\u0107.<\/p>\n
