The literary evening Zmijanje in Belgrade, Srpska in Serbia took place last evening as part of the event Ko\u010di\u0107\u2019s Day in Belgrade.<\/p>\n
The character and works of the Serbian literature\u2019s great and famous tribune Petar Ko\u010di\u0107 were discussed by the academician Matija Be\u0107kovi\u0107, this year\u2019s recipient of the Ko\u010di\u0107 Award, writers Goran \u0160aula, Mirko Vukovi\u0107 and Radmilo Radovanovi\u0107 from the Republic of Srpska and Nenad Radenkovi\u0107, Aleksandra Petrovi\u0107 and Sa\u0161a Ni\u0161avi\u0107 from Serbia, and presenters Vidak Maslovari\u0107 and Du\u0161ko M. Petrovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
Speaking about Ko\u010di\u0107, Be\u0107kovi\u0107 recalled that he had come from Gomionica to study at the First Belgrade Gymnasium, whose students at the time had been people who later grew up to become famous figures of Serbian history, such as King Peter I Kara\u0111or\u0111evi\u0107, Slobodan Jovanovi\u0107, Stevan Sremac, and voivodes \u017divojin Mi\u0161i\u0107 and Stepa Stepanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
He said that everything that Ko\u010di\u0107 had written later as a prose writer was pure gold and had been greeted with ovation by all the authorities of the time.<\/p>\n
\u0160aula noted that the themes that had raised Ko\u010di\u0107 to the very top of literature were eternal, such as the desire for freedom and the fight against slavery.<\/p>\n
Maslovari\u0107 said that the literary evening, same as Ko\u010di\u0107\u2019s Day in Belgrade and events in Banja Luka and in Stri\u010di\u0107i, were of great importance in fostering a culture of remembrance of those who had obligated Serbs.<\/p>\n
The literary evening was held at the Association of Writers of Serbia, which also organized it together with the Association of Writers of the Republic of Srpska and Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Serbia.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, representatives of the organizers laid wreaths and flowers on Ko\u010di\u0107\u2019s grave in the Alley of the Greats in Belgrade\u2019s New Cemetery.<\/p>\n
The poets then held appropriate orations at the Ko\u010di\u0107 monument in \u010cuburski Park and recited verses in honor of the famous writer and famous fighter for the freedom of the Serbian people.<\/p>\n
