The cultural event Vi\u0161nji\u0107 Days will be held from Friday to Tuesday, 4 to 8 November in Bijeljina to mark the jubilee of 120 years since the founding of the Serbian Educational and Cultural Society Prosvjeta and 130 years since the birth of Nobel laureate Ivo Andri\u0107, said the president of Prosvjeta Bijeljina, Slavi\u0161a Miki\u0107.<\/p>\n
Its central event, the ceremonial academy will be held on Monday, 7 November, at 19:30 hrs in the Semberija Cultural Center.<\/p>\n
The oration will be delivered by the author Milivoje Mla\u0111enovi\u0107, and performances by the Srbadija Choir, actors of the Semberija City Theater, and students of the Filip Vi\u0161nji\u0107 Gymnasium Bijeljina.<\/p>\n
The highlight of the event\u2019s rich program will be the play Hasanaginica by the Semberija City Theater, which will be performed on Saturday, 5 November at 20:00 hrs.<\/p>\n
Admission to this first performance after the recent premiere is free, but the number of seats is limited and the audience should take the tickets in advance at the ticket office of the Cultural Center.<\/p>\n
The 29th Vi\u0161nji\u0107 Days event is organized by Prosvjeta Bijeljina, and sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska and the city of Bijeljina. Miki\u0107 says that a feature of one of the oldest and largest cultural events is the high artistic quality of the program.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Repaying the debt to Filip Vi\u0161nji\u0107, Bijeljina is creating a pledge for the future, investing in young generations, educating future professionals in the field of art and culture, as well as the future audience, to protect from oblivion the value of literature and the entire intangible cultural heritage of the Serbian people \u2013 said Miki\u0107.<\/p>\n
Vi\u0161nji\u0107 Days will include promotions of the books Pansion gospo\u0111e Had\u017eivukovi\u0107 (Mrs. Had\u017eivukovi\u0107\u2019s Boarding House) by Tihomir Nestorovi\u0107 and Dnevnik ratnog hirurga (The Journal of a War Surgeon) by Miodrag Lazi\u0107, a poetic gusle evening dedicated to Vi\u0161nji\u0107, the exhibition Papir govori (paper speaks) about the paper money of Serbia and Yugoslavia from 1887 to 1996 from the archives of Vranje, and a program prepared by blind and partially sighted persons of the Republic of Srpska.<\/p>\n
Traditionally, there will be a reciting and oration contest for primary and secondary school students, and a roundtable on the state of culture in Bijeljina.<\/p>\n
Vi\u0161nji\u0107 Days begin on Friday, 4 November at 10:00, by laying of flowers on the monument to Filip Vi\u0161nji\u0107 and raising of the flag of the event on the town square in Bijeljina.<\/p>\n
The event will end on Tuesday, 8 November, with a festive liturgy and commemoration of Vi\u0161nji\u0107 in Bijeljina temples, and presentation of prizes to the winners of literary contests and reciting and oration contest.<\/p>\n
