In the calendar of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, this year again October is dedicated to the Let\u2019s Read Together campaign, which aims to popularize literature and publishing, language and alphabet, and young local artists, with a focus on the protection of the Cyrillic alphabet.<\/p>\n
The campaign started with an exhibition of posters showing illustrated representation of the Cyrillic alphabet.<\/p>\n
Third- and fourth-year graphic design students from the two public universities presented their vision of the Cyrillic alphabet in poster format. The exhibition presented 12 works by 10 students.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Young people need to invest themselves more in such projects as the one for the Cyrillic alphabet because we need more fonts and we need more of those visual solutions so that we can present the Cyrillic alphabet and apply it today in the 21st century \u2013 said graphic design final year student from Banja Luka Zorana Urumovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
\u2013 It is one of the main goals of the culture development strategy of the Republic of Srpska, in which way and through modern expressions, how we can promote and also protect the Cyrillic alphabet \u2013 said the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, Natalija Trivi\u0107.<\/p>\n
The combination of the national alphabet and art, in poster form, was created under the mentorship of professors and assistants of the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka and Trebinje.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Here, the alphabet is not only a language of communication, but also a means of artistic expression. We have posters that are more art than applied art, which makes me particularly happy \u2013 said Igor Dutina, senior assistant at the Fine Arts Academy in Trebinje.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Proof that design not only changes consciousness, but also changes the surrounding consciousness. I think this is particularly important for our Cyrillic alphabet and for all that was actually left to us in our cultural heritage, it is part of a really great cultural heritage \u2013 said Jelena Grubor, associate professor of the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka.<\/p>\n
The Let\u2019s Read Together campaign was launched in 2017, and it is held every year in October.<\/p>\n
