The event was organized in cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia and Mexico City, with which Serbia has traditionally had extraordinary cooperation for which it is sincerely thankful.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, the colors of the flag of the Republic of Serbia illuminated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monument to Independence (Angel of Independence), erected in 1910 to mark the centennial of Mexico\u2019s independence, which holds the remains of a number of its heroes, including Miguel Hidalgo, Jose Maria Morelos, and Ignacio Allende.<\/li>\n<li>Monument to the Revolution, solemnly inaugurated in 1938, where a number of famous people from the period during and after the Mexican Revolution rest, including Pancho Villa, Francisco Madero, Venustiano Carranza, Plutarco Elias Calles, and Lazaro Cardenas.<\/li>\n<li>Glorieta de la Palma, one of the most recognizable roundabouts along the famous Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City (in the middle of which is a huge palm tree, after which the roundabout was named).<\/li>\n<li>Monument to Cuauhtemoc, erected in 1887, in honor of the last ruler (Tlatoani) of Tenochtitlan (present-day Mexico City).<\/li>\n<li>Monument to the Petroleum Industry of Mexico, erected in 1952, to mark the anniversary of the nationalization of the petroleum industry in Mexico (1938).<\/li>\n<li>Fountain of Diana, the goddess of the hunt, which is represented by a bronze statue, ceremoniously unveiled in 1942.<\/li>\n<li>Chapultepec Aqueduct \u2013 two aqueducts built by the Aztecs in the 15th century to supply Tenochtitlan with potable water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Source and photo: RASEJANJE.<em>INFO<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, in the evening of that very day, the colors of the Serbian tricolor illuminated the landmarks of Mexico City, one of the largest metropolises in the world. \u2018This wonderful gesture once again confirmed the decades-long strong friendship and closeness that exists between Serbia and Mexico,\u2019 announced the Serbian Embassy in Mexico.
