Following the great success of the St Sava Ball premiere, which took place in the ceremonial chambers of the Hofburg Palace for the first time in its long tradition at the beginning of this year, the jubilee 25th edition of the ball will also be held there on 18 January 2024, in the presence of numerous participants and an even larger number of visitors, the organizers announced.
This important event’s organizers from the Serbian Centre Vienna remind us of the long history of this ceremony, which dates back as far as 160 years and which was interrupted only by the force of historical circumstances and for that very motive, halfway between nurturing the tradition and finding pace with the new age, this ambitious undertaking gathers the best of the Serbian diaspora and the motherland and is once again a meeting place of interesting people and ideas.
Vienna, being a city of high culture and Habsburg tradition, and at the same time the second home of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić and thus a part of Serbian cultural history, is a logical place for such a gathering.
The importance of the ball, as well as the activity of the Serbian community in the Austrian capital, is indicated by the fact that the St Sava Ball is the only foreign ball among the 14 most solemn balls that take place in the prestigious Hofburg.
Six hours of live show program on four stages will cover the widest spectrum of musical and artistic tastes, with the program ranging between classical music, old town tracks, rock, and new electronic sound.
Same as before, the St Sava Ball is of humanitarian character, which, as is well known, is the very core of the activities of the Serbian diaspora.
This year, the funds raised will be allocated to the Down Syndrome Centre Banja Luka.
The ball, as part of the St Sava festivities, is organized by the Serbian Centre Vienna, existing since 1995 and engaged in promoting and affirming Serbian tradition and contemporary culture.
